Can you understand the Cat’s Language?

Of course, cats cannot speak, but if you are a cat owner, you must pay attention on their behavior and on their body language. If you are good at it, you can fully understand what your cat is trying to tell you. If you have a kitten, you should start talking with him. If you do this, he will get used to your voice. But, when he is an adult cat, he will be much chattier. Also, he will know your voice. Eventually, you two will find a common language.

One of the most common, things your cat will try to tell you, is ‘’open the door’’. A cat will tell you this by running back and forth between you and the door. Then, she will sit, look at the door and say ‘’meow’’. This means ‘’please open the door’’ or ‘’open the door right now’’. However, cats may ‘’talk’’ to you too much. If this happens all the time, certain problems are possible. Hypervocalizing means that your cat: is ill, frustrated, bored, depressed or stressed. Also, it may occur when she is harassed by another animal or it is too hot. If your old cat does this, you must take her to a veterinarian. In other cases, you may try to fix a problem by eliminating possible causes.

If your cat is running in the apartment during the whole day, she has a lot of energy. This is a good thing, but you must do something. You must take her outside. During the warm days, avoid taking a cat outside during the heat. Wait for the night or early morning. If this continues, neutering may solve the problem.
