Choosing a dog that requires some special treatment is expensive, so choose an ordinary breed of dog. On the other side, people who keep rodents and smaller animals need less money.

In order to have a dog on a budget, you must pay attention to details and change your lifestyle a bit. The first and the most important thing is to spay or neuter your dog. This simple procedure can prevent your dog from many hormone related diseases. Many of them are treatable, but they are expensive. Also, these dogs are calmer and even friendlier.
If you think that you will save money by buying cheap food or giving less food to your dog, you are wrong. Dogs must eat a certain amount of food that contain nutrients their body needs. Without them, dogs can develop many diseases. This means that you will have to take your dog to the veterinarian. This means that you will have to pay. Feed your dog with commercial dog food. You cannot save money here. 

Dogs like treats. But they cost. The much better alternative is to make him your own treats. You can make more of them for less money.
